The inantzicatl were the serpent-folk of Ix. They believed that the tetzahuitl that roamed the island were sacred. They would offer the terror lizards food, jewels, and other sacrifices for boons of good fortune before important events. The empire was destroyed by Goxomoc when their last king, Telcezalco XXVIII, ordered his people to slaughter the tetzahuitl across the islands and bathe in their blood to become immortal. While successful, their defilement of the sacred creatures awoke Goxomoc who decimated the empire of the inantzicatl. The few survivors left Ix in search of more habitable lands.{{Cite book/knw|153}}
