Ix was an island chain south of the Bale Sea. The islands were originally inhabited by the inantzicatl, who's empire was destroyed by Goxomoc, Ix's Guardian Titan. The people of Ix were known as the Oaxuatl, however, the island chains were dominated by the giant terror lizards known as tetzahuitl.[1]

Ix's Guardian Titan was Goxomoc, the Terror Lord, a giant terror lizard which slumbered beneath the great volcano Ynixquichcauitl.[1]

Technology

While their cities were large, the largest built in the middle of a volcanic lake, the Oaxuatl had little influence over the surrounding land. They knew something of farming, especially surrounding their major cities, but the jungles were so rich that foraging remained a viable means of collecting food.

They knew little of working metal, having no natural metal deposits on the island, depending instead on obsidian or chert. As a result, the Oaxuatl relied on their natural stealth and dexterity, as well as extensive poison use to defeat their enemies.[citation needed]

People

The Oaxuatl, closely related to the Gol, were a primitive people, denizens of the islands across many Ages with little change. Untouched by the various human empires that have come and gone over the history of Orden, they remained primitive, with most of their industry going toward maintaining the massive ziggurats that mark the centers of their cities.[citation needed]

The inantzicatl were the serpent-folk of Ix. They believed that the tetzahuitl that roamed the island were sacred. They would offer the terror lizards food, jewels, and other sacrifices for boons of good fortune before important events. The empire was destroyed by Goxomoc when their last king, Telcezalco XXVIII, ordered his people to slaughter the tetzahuitl across the islands and bathe in their blood to become immortal. While successful, their defilement of the sacred creatures awoke Goxomoc who decimated the empire of the inantzicatl. The few survivors left Ix in search of more habitable lands.[2]

Religion

They had one of the largest pantheons in Orden, and each man was 'adopted' by a totem animal as part of their coming of age ceremony.

They respected and revered Goxomoc, they didn't, however, pray to him. Regardless, Oaxuatl shared an unshakable belief that, should the land be threatened, the Terror Lord would awake and defend it.[1]
