Dragons or Draco Vulgaris came into existence when an elemental is entangled in extreme concentrations of rancor and grief and it starts to crystallize into a terrifying beast. [1] Cultures across the timescape coveted, feared and revered dragons in equal measure. [2]
Physiology
Most dragons were covered in wyrmscale, a hardy plate capable of both absorbing and emitting elemental energy. Intended for protection and offense, when a dragon felt threatened, the wyrmscale ignited, radiating massive amounts of energy and creating a barrier which both buffered incoming as outgoing force. [1]
The presence of a dragon had an effect on their surrounding land, as their nature shaped it. This phenomenon was known as dragonsealed, as the dragon used their magic to set a seal upon the land (or creatures), making them an extension of the dragon's might and subject to their fury. [1]
Other commonalities between dragons were powerful wings, whip-like tails and reptilian faces adorned with horns. Some individual dragons retained traits from their primordial forms, while powerful ones changed their shapes with the intent of distinguishing themselves even further. [1]
Psychology
Dragons were a rancorous and full of hubris people. With lives capable of spanning millennia, dragons had a perspective mortals could scarcely comprehend, and they often held grudges for slights committed against them eons ago. [2]
Dragons were known for their hoards. Mature dragons acquired vast amounts of treasure and wealth as a hunting technique. The greater the hoard the more prey they lured. Young dragons still settling their domain, have been known to scour the land for treasures to start their hoard. It was not unheard of for a dragon to visit, or even settle, near a people who gave them their valuables and heirlooms. [1]
Draco Nobilis
Regular dragons are not to be confused with the elder dragons, the first of the speaking peoples. [1]
Draco Vulgaris variations
People often categorized dragons based on where they were found and how their environments shaped the dragon's form. [1]
