Unlike the undead risen by necromancers, revenants rose from their grave through a combination of an unjust death and a burning desire for vengeance.
Physiology
A revenant's appearance varied depending on their ancestry in life. [1]
They did not require any kind of sustenance (nor even air) to "live", "running" on pure will alone. [1] Revenants were also very hard to kill, only by setting fire to their corpse could it be achieved. [1]
Psychology
A revenant retained all their memories and personality from life. [1]
Due to revenants being rare, they used to be hunted by the ignorant, so some chose a solitary life, while others migrated to larger cities. [1]

Cultural groups
A revenant's culture varied depending on their ancestry in life, but due to many being hunted, many either lead solitary lives or chose to move to a metropolis where lost souls gather to make a home, like Blackbottom or Capital. [1]
