Codex Incabulum

From Timescape Wiki

Created by Marcus Gaius Orestes in the 101st year of the Age of Conquest, during the height of the Caelian Empire. The book has been found and lost many times over the centuries. [1]

History

The Codex Incabulum was often incorrectly cited as the source of the Fall of Azshan. A popular guess repeated so often that it had attained the status of fact. Rather, the codex stopped the demonic infestation that razed the ruling city of Kham. It contained the sea of fiends, preventing them from spreading across the world. [1]

Powers

Often those who have wielded the Book of Fiends have delved deep into dark powers. In order to invoke the codex's powers, users had to sacrifice part of their life force. [2] [1]

Imposition through existence - Key to the Gate

The Codex Incabulum protects the Mundane World from invasions from the Seven Cities of Hell.

While the codex is on the Mundane World, summoned devils cannot summon more devils. Should it ever leave Orden, however, this restriction would be lifted, and then even minor devils could gate in powerful allies, who themselves could gate in more allies, until armies of devils flooded the world.
