Val
Val, the Noble Lord, First Among Equals, was the patron god of the elves and one of the Old gods. Val was the creator of the Celestials, or the True Elves, who in turn created the Younger Elves.
Val held that the creation of art and the appreciation of beauty are among the greatest purposes a thinking being can dedicate their lives to. The magical wodes in Orden represented
History
Creation of Orden
Val created the second of the speaking people, the Celestials. Although made from Val's power, the celestials had no link to him. In this absence they invented art, music and poetry. [1]
Val held the magical wodes close to his heart as they represented his vision for Orden. [2]
Val's abscence
His growing disgust with the concept of war led him to leave Orden and take residence in his private manifold, Arcadia, taking his Celestials with him. All elves hoped to join them one day. [2]

Etymology
His name is the root of the Caelien word "valiant" and the dwarves named valiar, the truemetal, after him.
